Class A Commercial Driver/Laborer

Reports To: Job Foreman

Class A Commercial truck driver who will also perform physical labor on gas utility construction projects. May operate a variety of hand and power tools. May clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, erect scaffolding, clean up rubble and debris and remove waste materials.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in heavy/highway construction projects; perform manual work in preparing surfaces for paving.
• Shovel bituminous concrete (asphalt) into construction area.
• Fine grade fill to grades given by foreman.
• Assist in patching asphalt with hot and cold mix. Excavate and fills trenches and ditches.
• Maintain a clean job site: pick up all tools and equipment and secure job site each day in order to eliminate potential hazards.
• Material handling and storage.
• Load and unload trucks and haul and hoist materials.
• Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Bring problems to the attention of the Foreman, Safety Director or HR Manager.

Education and Experience:

• Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work.
• Willingness and ability to perform manual work following verbal and written instructions.
• Possess the required Operator Qualifications necessary to work with and around natural gas.
• Must possess or be able to obtain a valid and appropriate state commercial driver's license prior to employment.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Some knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in heavy/highway construction work.
• Some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions.
• Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.

Class A Driver/Operator

AGI Construction is a Rhode Island based gas utility construction contractor expanding into Massachusetts. We are looking for qualified and licensed drivers/operators that are able to use a variety of contractor equipment and trucks utilized in construction of underground gas utilities.

Essential Job Functions:

• Operate trucks of various sizes and weights in the loading, hauling and unloading of various equipment, materials, and supplies.
• Operate skid steers, trucks and construction or power equipment, such as mechanized broom, backhoe, man-lift, dump truck, front-end loader, and hydraulic excavators.
• Work with and assist the line crew in digging ditches and trenches, hoisting material, tools, equipment, and any related work with a backhoe, road grater, or front-end loader.
• Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or repairs to supervisor; clean equipment.
• Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Considerable knowledge of heavy-equipment operation.
• Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions common to heavy equipment operations.
• Working knowledge of the methods, materials and tools used in street and utility work.
• Skill in operation of listed tools and equipment.

Construction Superintendent

Reports To: General Superintendent

AGI is currently looking for a qualified and experienced construction superintendent to become a part of our team. The Superintendent is responsible for field operations and technical support on the projects assigned in order to achieve the safe, timely and profitable completion of each project.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supervise total effort to ensure project is constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule.
• Ensure the work performed complies with all specifications and requirements of the contract documents.
• Ensure that all permits and excavation notices have been received as required for the movement of equipment, opening of street, dig safe, etc.
• Arrange for flaggers and coordinate with public works officials as necessary.
• Develop and implement work schedules identifying the critical path including the expediting of scheduled critical materials and equipment for their timely delivery to site.
• Schedule and dispatch field employees and sub-contractors for most efficient use of labor, equipment and materials.
• Plan, coordinate and supervise on-site and emergency job functions (scheduling, material control, personnel and may provide day-to-day direction) in order to complete the work on time, within budget, and to quality specified.
• Supervise and provide leadership to field personnel and ensure all on-site personnel comply with project procedures, safety programs, requirements, work rules, etc.
• Document all violations, notify project management, and implement corrective action.
• Maintain accurate time and material records and complete client paperwork as required. Time sheets, work orders, billing descriptions, project reports, etc.
• Make recommendations on the hiring, termination, and discipline of field employees and implement training programs.

Education and Experience:

• High school or technical school diploma or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience. College degree is preferred but not required.
• At least three years in a leadership role in gas utility construction is required.
• Prior gas experience is required.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

(Including licensing and competencies which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.)

• Knowledge and understanding of the general and subcontract documents, drawings and specifications, construction means, methods and materials, understanding of gas utility construction, compliance and safety regulations.
• Computer skills required, including familiarity with Microsoft office suite programs.
• Strong management, leadership and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
• Must possess a valid unrestricted Driver’s License.
• Must possess all necessary Gas Industry Operator Qualifications.
